Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) contributes to the development of Islamic Finance knowledge in Brunei by educating more and more people each year. Universiti Brunei Darussalam, based in Brunei, was founded in 1985. In addition, UBD is considered the country’s largest university, and the 2020 QS Asia University Rankings place it into 86th position among Asian universities.
During the years, UBD has noticed a significant increase in graduates and new academic programs. UBD has nine academic faculties and seven research institutes. One of its faculties is the UBD School of Business and Economics (UBDSBE). UBD School of Business and Economics is one of the country’s academic leaders in business, economics, and finance.
UBDSBE offers undergraduate and graduate studies. Besides, the university offers Islamic finance courses for graduate students.
The Faculty Offers 9 Graduate Degree Programs:
6 Master’s programs including: Master of Business Administration, Master of Management, Master of Islamic Finance, Master of Applied Economic-(New) , Master by Research (Management/Economics/Finance) , and Master of Logistics
3 Doctorate programs, namely: PhD in Economics, PhD in Finance, and PhD in Management
The faculty has produced in-depth research works in Accounting and Finance, Halal Marketing and Branding, Islamic Banking, Finance, and Economics, and many other related topics.
The MIF program equips you with skills relevant to the practice of Islamic Finance. This program has 12 modules which consist of 9 core and three optional modules. The program is in English on a full-time and part-time basis. Throughout the year, students will be able to learn the following subjects:
- Islamic Jurisprudence
- Islamic Economics
- Modern Financial Theory
- Islamic Micro Finance
- Islamic Transaction
- Accounting for Islamic Finance
- Investment in Islamic Finance
- Risk Management in Islamic Finance
- Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility and three other optional modules.
By the end of the course, students can understand global Islamic finance issues and challenges in the business environment and demonstrate the ability to integrate and apply the knowledge of Islamic Finance.
