Why Musaffa Is Launching Ready-Made Halal Portfolios

A new way to invest — built from the ground up for halal investors.

For years, Musaffa has helped halal investors do one thing well: figure out which stocks they can own. We're launching something different soon — four professionally built, Shariah-compliant US portfolios that take the picking off the table entirely. Investors choose a goal; we handle the rest.

The product, called Musaffa Ready-Made Halal Portfolios, goes live on May 15. The launch lineup includes US Core, US Growth, US Income, and US Innovation — each constructed and continuously screened for Shariah compliance, with diversification, sector caps, and rebalancing built in by default.

This is the biggest product step Musaffa has taken since launching its Shariah stock screener and Global Halal Investing Platform. Here's why we built it.

The question users started asking

When Musaffa first launched, the most common question from users was: "Is this stock halal?" The screener answered that. Over the past two years, the question quietly changed.

40% of our users wanted the managed portfolios as well based on multiple Questionnaires.

It became: "Just tell me what to invest in."

It's a fair ask. Halal investors don't want to spend their evenings as part-time portfolio managers. They want exposure to the right investments, screened the right way, managed for the long term — without having to pick 30 individual companies and rebalance them every quarter.

The reality is that for most halal investors, existing options have been limited and inflexible. Most halal ETFs are heavily concentrated in large U.S. companies, primarily reflecting the broader U.S. economy.

There is very little access to thematic investing. What if an investor wants exposure to specific sectors like technology, AI, robotics, or healthcare?

Robo-advisors typically treat halal as a feature toggle on a conventional product, rather than designing the portfolio around halal principles from the start. And picking individual stocks — even with a great screener — takes hours of work most people don't have.

Musaffa’s Ready-Made Halal Portfolios are the in-between option that didn't really exist for halal investors. Until now.

"Halal investors don't want to act like portfolio managers. That’s time-consuming and risky. They want expertly built portfolios — aligned with their values, designed around their goals, managed for the long term."

What we built, and how

A Musaffa Ready-Made Halal Portfolio is a basket of investments - chosen, weighted, and rebalanced for the investor. Four portfolios go live on May 15:

Musaffa US Core — broad exposure to the U.S. market for long-term growth. The flagship portfolio, designed as a single-decision starting point.

Musaffa US Growth — high-growth, Shariah-compliant companies with higher potential returns and higher volatility. Built for investors with a longer time horizon.

Musaffa US Income — designed to generate consistent income through dividend-paying, Shariah-compliant companies.

Musaffa US Innovation — leading Shariah-compliant technology companies driving long-term innovation and growth.

All four portfolios share the same construction principles: a strict business activity screen, financial ratio screening aligned with Shariah board guidelines, sector caps to prevent over-concentration, individual holding caps so no one company dominates, and rebalancing on both a scheduled and conditional basis.

The screening doesn't happen once. It runs continuously — because companies change. Compliance changes. The portfolio reflects that in real time. We also track purification, transparently, for any incidental non-compliant income from otherwise compliant holdings.

And here's the part I'm most proud of: each of the four portfolios comes in five versions, weighted to match your risk profile. When you open your first portfolio, you'll take a short risk assessment — a couple of minutes, a handful of questions — that puts you in one of five categories from Conservative to Aggressive. The version of the portfolio you get is built around how you actually invest. Not a one-size-fits-all default. Not a generic "moderate" everyone gets stuck with. Yours.

None of this is bolted on. Musaffa Ready-Made Halal Portfolios were designed halal-first — not as a halal label applied to a conventional product structure.

"We didn't want to ship a halal-overlay on a conventional robo-advisor. So we didn't."

Why this matters

There are roughly two billion Muslims in the world. The fast-growing share of them with disposable income to invest face the same recurring problem: most investing products weren't built with their values in mind, and the products that say they were often only check the box at launch.

The investing experience for halal investors should match the experience available to everyone else. Pick a goal. Fund the portfolio. Trust that what's inside aligns with your values — not just at the moment you bought it, but every day you hold it.

That's what Musaffa’s Ready-Made Halal Portfolios are designed to deliver. And because they sit inside the same Musaffa platform that already helps users research and screen individual stocks, investors can choose how much of their portfolio they want to actively manage and how much they want fully managed for them. The two approaches aren't in competition — they're complementary.

What's next

The May 15 launch is the start of a longer roadmap. The four US portfolios will be followed by additional themes and geographies based on what users ask for and what we hear in the first weeks after launch. The methodology stays the same across all of them: halal-first design, continuous screening, transparent construction, real diversification.

For now, Musaffa Ready-Made Halal Portfolios are live on May 15 to existing Musaffa users. Anyone interested can join the launch list at musaffa.com.
